Musicmaster Bass Amp Tone modification
The Musicmaster amplifier is well suited as a guitar amplifier for fans of the sound of the older small Fender amplifiers. A simple modification I once found to improve the tone control and tone is worth trying. The costs are low and it can be easily reversed if desired. Both options A and B can be used separately or in combination.
Mod 1
Original situation
Originally the tone and volume pots are connected by a direct connection, a resistor and a capacitor.
When you open the cupboard you will encounter the following situation. Other connections that are not between the two potentiometers are not drawn for clarity.
Modification
The necessary adjustment is below. Remove the parts and the wire connecting the regulators. Replace it with a new wire and two new capacitors. Leave all other connections as it is. The voltage of the new 0.0047 uF and 500 pF capacitor is irrelevant within this part of the circuit. Parts that should be easy to obtain at low cost.
Mod 2
By replacing the original 0.01 uF capacitor with a 0.022 uF one, you can make your amplifier sound a bit "fatter". Just remove the current capacitor and solder a new one in the same place. Use a version that can handle at least 300 volts.
